Flyttefødsler i Nordnorge: en kvalitativ studie

Vitenskapelig tittel:

The North Norway Transfer in Labour Study

Birth in remote regions can be risky especially in winter, and low risk women occasionally need to be transferred in labour. Some women experience this as traumatic, while others do not. Birth is a vulnerable moment even in straightforward conditions, and carries a certain potential for traumatic stress. This risk is increased if women experience birth as particularly distressing, and if complications arise. Hence women tranferred in labour are at increased risk, some struggle with emotional or relational difficulties afterwards, while others do not. In the livelly political and professional debates around care during birth in Norway, women's own experiences have not been collected systematically, nor their voices heard. This study aims to fill that gap, and gain understanding in women's own words of what can help or hinder coping in this challenging situation.
