Exposure to violence and the mental Health of adolescents in post-conflict area in Indonesia

Prosjektbeskrivelse:
“Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood into adulthood, which often associated with risk taking behavior, including violence. Many studies have documented the deleterious impact of exposures to violence on adolescents’ health. This impact is often worse among adolescents living in a conflict-affected area. Unfortunately, to the best of our knowledge, there has not been a comprehensive study on the violence and its relations to adolescents’ health in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interconnected factors related to violence among adolescents and their relations to mental health. Secondly, to identify risk and protective factors both for violent behavior and mental health of adolescents in post conflict area in Indonesia. This is a longitudinal school-based study, with a follow up one year after the first phase. The first data Collection has been completed in October 2013”.
