Forskningsprosjekt

Oppmerksomhets kontroll ved ADHD hos voksne

Vitenskapelig tittel:
Deficits of inhibitory and attentional control in adult ADHD, and their improvement through neuromodulation

Prosjektbeskrivelse:
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a brain disorder marked by patterns of inattention an impulsivity that interfere with cognitive development, learning and everyday functioning. Impairments of brain networks that instantiate the control of attention and the ability to inhibit thoughts and actions believed to underlie the inattention- and hyperactive/impulsive-subtypes, respectively. The project will set up a framework that utilizes fine-grained behavioral analyses combined with psychophysiological and neuroscience measurements to dissociate and characterize impairments in subdomains of higher cognition, namely proactive and reactive attentional- and inhibitory control. This project will thereby contribute to a better understanding of the neurocognitive deficits seen in ADHD, and will further derive new diagnostic variables that will be of use for differential diagnosis.
