Validering av pediatrisk triage i akuttmottaket ved Dhulikhel sykehus, Nepal.

Vitenskapelig tittel:
The use of the pediatric South-African Triage system at a local hospital in Nepal, a validation study.

Dhulikhel hospital (DH) and Kathmandu University School of Medical Science has had a close collaboration with NTNU and St. Olavs hospital since 2007. Several projects has arisen from this collaboration, and among these the DHECARE study (Dhulikhel Hospital Emergency CARE Study). The DHECARE study was started in 2013 as an initiative to improve the emergency care at Dhulikhel hospital. This study will as a part of the DHECARE project seek to evaluate the triage system in use at the emergency room (ER) for the pediatric population. An earlier study indicated that the former triage system, the RETTS-p, was not well adapted to the low-income setting in Nepal. Therefore, in 2016 the pediatric- South-African Triage system (p-SATS) was introduced. The triage of children in the ER at Dhulikhel Hospital is yet to be evaluated after this introduction, and this study will seek to establish reliability, validity and time-to-treatment for the triage system in the pediatric population.
